Intermediate and Senior SchoolAfternoon ActivitiesGeneral InformationThe many sporting and non-sporting activities on offer to students will vary from term to term. Sports are offered on a seasonal basis and, where appropriate, in single sex, mixed and multi-age categories. Appropriate dress also is required during the activity and upon leaving the school premises. Supervised by members of faculty, all activities take place between 3:00 PM and 4:15 PM. Samples of activities are: Badminton, Basketball, Chemistry, Climbing, Computers, Concert Band, Drama, Hockey, Swimming, Rugby, S. A. T, Soccer, Softball, Study Skills, Woodwind Ensemble. Forms explaining the options available are distributed to the students early each term. These forms are filled in and returned to the P.E. office during break time. (In the case of siblings, each student is required to fill in and submit his or her own form.) Registration for each activity is limited and preference will be given to those who register early and those on waiting lists. This is important: activities are often oversubscribed. However, the school reserves the right to cancel any activity for which an insufficient number of students enroll. Students who miss three consecutive weeks will have their name removed from the registers. (Please contact Mr Johnston should you wish to withdraw your child from any activity.) A late bus is made available but with restricted routes. Reservations to use this service need to be made when applying for an Activity. Specific rules regarding this service and required behaviour are given to the students. Upon leaving school, students taking a late bus first should line up in the lower playground. Students are not allowed to stay behind after school unless they are registered for an activity (neither entering the buildings between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM nor leaving the school property). When classes and activities end, students who are waiting to be picked up should wait inside the school gate until called by the guard at the door. Most after school activity programmes are offered without extra charge to the students. However, there will be a small charge made for those activities which incur additional cost to the school (i. e. Arts and Crafts, Cookery and Sewing Crafts). |
