Welcome to The Senior School

In Forms IV and V students take courses in preparation for the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) examinations administered by the University of Cambridge. A considerable degree of specialisation and choice is on offer here; while the framework of options predicates balance - English, Math, Spanish and at least one science are compulsory - significant freedom as to the overall emphasis of study, e.g. more or less science or arts based, is available.

During the last two years of school, in the Lower and Upper Sixth, all students follow the International Baccalaureate programme, a two year externally examined curriculum designed to challenge the best of university-bound secondary school students, offering an international and objectively determined standard of excellence.  In most I.B. schools only the “creme de la creme” are permitted to even attempt the full I.B. Diploma.

At Greengates all sixth form students follow the full I.B. programme, and our Diploma pass rate, at 90 to 95% in recent years, is well above the world average.  Nearly all Greengates graduates go on to higher education and are regularly accepted at the best universities in the USA, Mexico, Europe, Japan and elsewhere, in many cases with substantial scholarships.
