Closely collaborating with the teaching faculty, this Office works with our high school students to help them achieve the ‘right fit’ when they go off to study at college. Our graduating students typically elect to study a wide range of degrees in the USA, Mexico, Canada and the United Kingdom, but, with such a multinational student body as we have, many other countries (such as Korea and Japan) will receive applications, too. Assisted by their IGCSE and IB exam successes, our seniors consistently attend among the best colleges around the world.
To help our students discern what may be the right major to study at college, we also host an annual ‘College Fair’, now second largest in size in the Americas. (Some 130 colleges attend.) Many other good colleges also visit our students in the course of the year, principally in the first and long term. Typically, too, counsellors from this school will visit selected campuses overseas each year, building and maintaining our longstanding connections with those college admission offices. (Greengates also provides assistance in the revalidation of any studies required for application to Mexican universities.)
Our Office also assists high school students select good summer programmes, both in the Americas and in Europe.
We hold parent information meetings in the Sixth Form about applying to college. This occurs in Term One. Parents also are warmly invited to book one-to-one meetings with us, as and when such contact is required.
Students are assisted by their access to ‘Naviance,’ powerful software that possesses many helpful applications. This help ranges from standardized test preparation (for application to the USA) to the identification of specific courses offered in colleges and universities, wherever they are.
