Frequently asked questions

  • How long is Greengates’ school day?
    • Nursery through Year 1 is from 8:10 am to 1:15 pm.
    • Year 2 to Year 13 is from 8:10 am to 2:55 pm.
    • All our afternoon activities are from 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm.
  • Do students wear uniforms at Greengates?
    Yes, from Nursery to Year 9, our students wear uniforms. Students wear our formal school uniform three times per week and our physical education uniform twice per week. 

    Also, as an international school of British heritage, we have a House system and our sporting activities are completed in our four Houses: Brightman (blue), Edinburgh (red), Foulkes (white), and Whitbourn (yellow).
  • Are students required to ride the bus?
    Riding the bus is optional and the fees for this service are separate.

    Most of our families do opt-into our bus service, and we have nearly 30 bus lines serving areas that include Polanco, Inter Lomas, Las Lomas, Santa Fe, and others. Each bus has a driver and nanny who are specifically assigned to the route. 

    All bus and car pick-ups and drop-offs are done inside our campus and not curb side.
  • What afternoon activities does Greengates offer?
    Greengates offers four main sports: volleyball, football (soccer), basketball, and rugby. The first three have competitive junior and varsity teams for boys and girls during all three terms, where Greengates competes against other local schools. 

    Other recreational sporting activities for our younger students have been designed to teach them skills to participate in our four main sports, beginning in Primary School. We also offer swimming, cross-country, climbing, rhythmic gymnastics, Global Games club, catch ball (a simple version of volleyball for Primary), tennis, badminton, and flag football.

    Greengates also has clubs around the arts, academics, and other interests and hobbies like photography, cooking, STEAM, tutoring workshops, and beyond. Discover more about our afternoon activities.
