Years 7-9

OUR LOWER SECONDARY CURRICULUM

As our students move into Secondary School, they delve deeper into a wide array of subjects of the English National Curriculum. Beginning with Years 7–9 of Lower Secondary, students focus on English, mathematics, and Spanish and explore a great range of other areas, from science to art, at a rigorous level that stimulates their growth and encourages their achievement. Complementing their classroom learning, students also explore opportunities in the world around them, from our location in greater Mexico City. This lays the groundwork for their success in a globally connected future.

PURSUING OUR PASSIONS

LANGUAGE LEARNING IN LOWER SECONDARY

During these years, students who had been receiving English support but no longer require extra classes may begin to study French, information technology, or recommended research and presentation skills.

In Years 8 and 9, students who are in the early stages of studying Spanish may take additional Spanish classes instead of French.

Students who require additional support to develop their English may have extra English classes in a small group or a one-to-one setting, instead of taking French, and in some cases, history.

SMALL GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALISED LEARNING

In Greengates Secondary School, our teachers provide one-on-one attention and support in small groups, as an effective way to support learners in achieving their academic goals. The small groups have no more than 15 to 18 students. Additionally, our teachers will make interventions to identify areas of challenge or difficulty and provide targeted support to help learners overcome these challenges.

Between the support of your child's teacher and these targeted interventions, our students experience individualised learning that helps them achieve their full potential and succeed in a demanding academic environment.
