GREENGATES PRIMARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

In Primary School, spanning Years 2–6 at Greengates, we offer the highly regarded, accredited International Primary Curriculum (IPC), which Greengates was the first to offer in all of Mexico and across Latin America. The IPC allows us to individualise learning, meeting students where they are in their learning, so we can challenge or support them to grow rapidly to achieve their greatest potential. Our young students learn across different subjects and themes, encouraging them to make connections within the world.

THE INTERNATIONAL PRIMARY CURRICULUM (IPC)

Greengates Primary School is fully accredited in delivering the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), which has been designed for the rapid growth and advancement of children between the ages of six and ten. The IPC comes after the studies and activities of the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC).

Greengates was the first private primary school to achieve both IEYC and IPC accreditation in Mexico and across Latin America. The IEYC and IPC are part of the International Curriculum Association (ICA), which has been helping schools all around the world develop children’s learning since 1984.

The IPC’s approach to learning

Learning through the IPC means that children focus on a combination of academic, personal, and international learning that’s exciting, engaging, and challenging. The IPC helps every child enjoy learning across a wide range of subjects, including science, history, geography, and art. Students develop enquiring minds and form personal goals that will continue to inspire them throughout their teenage and adult years. They’ll also develop a sense of their own nationality and culture, while also developing a profound respect for others’ nationalities and cultures.

What students gain

Through the IPC, children build the knowledge, skills, and understanding to confidently face the world of tomorrow.

At Greengates School, our approach to learning also includes our relationship with our host country of Mexico and the educational authorities of the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP). Mexican nationals and other native Spanish speakers can achieve certification for the learning targets of SEP, through Spanish language lessons and IPC Social Studies lessons.

For our young international students, we expect they’ll achieve literacy in Spanish by the end of Primary School. We also expect they’ll develop knowledge of Mexican history and geography and an appreciation of our country’s rich culture and traditions.

READY TO LEARN
When we arrive at school, we’re greeted by all our teachers at the entrance. We gather on the patio and chat or play with friends until the bell rings! Then, we line up next to our class teacher to get ready to learn.

INDIVIDUALISED LEARNING

In Primary, our students also take an active role in setting their own learning targets and goals based on their individual strengths, challenges, and interests. Our teachers create an individualised learning plan or roadmap that outlines the steps needed to achieve those targets. Our teachers create flexibility, adjusting targets and goals according to the child’s advancement.
